Golden Moments / A gentle approach

Safety and intended use

A pleasant moment is enough. No one needs to remember a name, get an answer right, or finish a game.

What the app does

Golden Moments offers picture matching and shared-looking activities. Families and caregivers may use these activities with an older adult, including someone living with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, if that person enjoys them. They can also enjoy the pictures on their own.

The purpose is leisure, familiarity, and time spent together—not improving a score or producing a clinical outcome.

What the app is not designed to do

The app is not intended to diagnose, screen for, assess, monitor, treat, prevent, or slow dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or any other illness. It does not provide therapy, medical guidance, medication advice, emergency assistance, or a care plan. The app's intended recreational purpose is not a regulatory clearance or classification.

How quickly someone matches a picture, or whether they recognize it, is not a measure of their intelligence, capacity, health, or disease stage. Do not use game activity to make health or caregiving decisions. We do not claim that playing produces measured cognitive or medical benefits.

Keep participation voluntary

Ask if the person would like to look at pictures. Keep the activity simple and offer choices. Let them spend time with a picture without requiring its name or the year. If a memory or story comes naturally, listen. If not, quiet companionship also counts.

Stop, take a break, or change activities if someone becomes tired, uncomfortable, confused, upset, or uninterested. A familiar image may also carry an unpleasant memory; never insist on continuing with it. A caregiver should provide the ordinary supervision or support appropriate for the person's circumstances. The app does not replace that support.

Comfort and accessibility

Use a comfortable screen brightness, a position that makes images easy to see, and the device's accessibility settings when helpful. There is no need to increase difficulty or time a session. If a person is sensitive to sounds, turn sound off. Take breaks according to their preferences.

For web accessibility details, see our accessibility page. Device compatibility and the features available in a specific app version are listed in its App Store entry.

Personal pictures and consent

When a version allows imported photos, select only images that you may use and display. Take special care with photos of children or anyone who cannot readily express their wishes. Do not share another person's diagnosis or other personal information as part of an activity.

Original photographs, working copies, and device backups are different. Read our deletion instructions and app privacy policy before using family photos.

Medical care and emergencies

If you are concerned about someone's memory, behavior, safety, or other health changes, speak with a qualified healthcare professional. Golden Moments cannot advise on an individual person's condition or care. If someone is in immediate danger or has a medical emergency, call the appropriate local emergency number. Do not rely on the app for urgent help.

Report a concern

If you find an upsetting picture, misleading description, accessibility barrier, or safety issue, email apple@locuno.com. Describe the screen or feature without including sensitive health details or family photos unless truly needed.
